We are in the midst of a pandemic that is affecting every aspect of our lives as an individual and as a community, locally and globally. Kalusugan Coalition recognizes that comprehensive change can only be achieved by involving the community. As a community organization focused on advancing health and well-being of Filipino Americans in the New York City metropolitan area, Kalusugan Coalition supports efforts at the local, regional and federal levels that aim to contain and mitigate the effects of this fast-spreading pandemic.
We also support strong statements from national and international organizations that denounce discrimination, racism and xenophobia against Asian Americans that this pandemic has spurred. This pandemic should not be attached to any ethnicity or nationality: the virus does not carry a passport nor recognize international borders. We are in this together as responsible global citizen combating the spread and flattening the curve of the virus.
Finally, we are grateful to our nurses, physicians and other health care providers and first responders who work tirelessly and selflessly to keep us safe. You are the frontline heroes.
